What's New
The Indian River Lakes Conservancy (IRLC) invites government agencies, lake association leaders, experts, university researchers, and community members who care about the future of our lakes to attend its annual Water Quality Conference on June 5th, 2026.
This year’s Conference is directly informed by the Love of the Lakes survey the IRLC conducted in partnership with Jefferson Community College (SUNY)’s Center for Community Studies (CCS) with a grant from the New York State Conservation Partnership Program.
“The survey results revealed that community members are really looking for education about important topics related to the health of our lakes,” said John O’Driscoll, IRLC Board Chair. “We’re listening to our community and directly addressing that need in the programming for this year’s conference.”
The Conference will feature a diverse array of speakers from partner organizations, such as Jefferson Community College, the Preservation Alliance of Hyde Lake, the Saint Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO PRISM), and more. Topics include the New York State Septic Replacement Fund program, a study on harmful algal blooms, and an introduction to invasive species management, among others.
“We’re hoping this Conference will really equip people who love our lakes to help them,” said Andrea Inserra, a dedicated IRLC volunteer and grant collaborator. “This is a great opportunity to come together, share knowledge, and develop strategies for the future of our lakes.”
IRLC is committed to addressing the water quality challenges facing the 18 lakes of the Indian River watershed. This conference provides a forum to explore critical topics, share experiences, and develop strategies for protecting and improving the health of the region’s watersheds. By fostering collaboration and communication, the conference strengthens our collective ability to care for the land and water of the Indian River Lakes Region. Through initiatives like the Water Quality Conference, IRLC plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of our lakes and fostering a community dedicated to their long-term protection.
Tickets may be purchased for $45 online or for $50 at the door.
