What's New
On December 12, the Indian River Lakes Conservancy welcomed families and community members to the Trailside Learning Center at Redwood Hill Preserve for one of our most cherished winter traditions, the Night Tree.
The preserve came alive with laughter, warmth, and the glow of a cozy fire. Families gathered with mugs of hot chocolate in hand while children eagerly got to work creating nature-based ornaments using pinecones, bird seed, natural fruits, and strings of Cheerios. Each ornament was crafted with care, knowing it would help feed and support wildlife through the winter months.
The evening reached its most magical moment when the Night Tree was lit. Children huddled beneath its branches, bundled in hats and mittens, faces glowing as the lights shimmered above them. It was a simple yet powerful reminder of the wonder that comes from slowing down and experiencing nature together.
“This night was a beautiful reminder of our mission,” said IRLC Board Member Steve Diehl. “Events like The Night Tree keep IRLC rooted in purpose, bringing people outside, onto the trails, and into meaningful experiences that foster stewardship of the land and waters we all cherish.”
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us for this special evening and helped make it such a memorable community experience. Special shout out to Price chopper for donating cookies for the event and the Adamowski family for donating hot chocolate. This event would not have been possible without our wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to bring this event to our community. We look forward to welcoming you back to Redwood Hill Preserve and to many more moments of wonder on the trails.
