Connect with nature
- Bird Watching
- Snowshoeing
- Walking & Hiking
The Ferrone Woods Preserve trailhead can be found at the designated parking area on Black Lake Road.
Following the red trail markers, the path wanders slowly upward through mixed forest habitat dominated by beech, oak, maple, hemlock, and hickory trees.
The trail’s end introduces walkers to a high-ground section of exposed rocky flatlands with large sections of open grassland, shrubs, and mosses.
Upcoming Improvements
This trail is part of an expanding trail system that is slated to traverse a greater portion of the upland habitat area of the preserve and offer the option of a loop trail with views of Black Lake. The preserve trail map is being developed and will be available here once it is finished. We look forward to seeing you on the trails!
