Katie Syring

Office Manager

Katie grew up in North Idaho where she learned about the true beauty of nature. Constantly being surrounded by endless mountains and forever blooming and changing fields, she didn't realize what an impact that environment would have on the rest of her life.

Her journey, from assisting in environmental reconstruction on Alaska's BP oil fields during her college years to becoming a military spouse, has been a global adventure spanning from Idaho, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Guam, D.C., and now New York!

Katie's zest for life is evident, not only in her role with the Indian River Lakes Conservancy but also in her commitment as a homeschooling mother of two. With a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University, Katie brings a passionate work ethic enriching our mission to protect and celebrate the natural world.

Fun Fact

Shoreline vegetation not only improves water quality, but it also provides important habitat for fish and wildlife.

Fish rely on fallen logs and branches for shelter, and turtles use them to sunbathe. Plants supply nesting places for birds, as well as food for numerous critters including insects, waterfowl and aquatic mammals.
