The IRLC does not allow foraging, however, we have programs to teach about foraging as certain species become available.

Trails are chosen to provide the safest and best experience at our preserves.
The IRLC does not allow for excursions “off trail,” climbing on rocks or trees or otherwise embarking in dangerous activities.
Getting emergency responders to a site promptly is difficult, at best.

Shoreline vegetation not only improves water quality, but it also provides important habitat for fish and wildlife.

Fish rely on fallen logs and branches for shelter, and turtles use them to sunbathe. Plants supply nesting places for birds, as well as food for numerous critters including insects, waterfowl and aquatic mammals.
