Ken VanHatten
Board Member & Treasurer
Ken grew up in Central New York, where his childhood was shaped by time spent outdoors. Summers at Dingman Point in the Thousand Islands, fishing on the Indian River, hunting with the Weiman Hunting Club on the Tug Hill Plateau, and camping throughout the Southern Tier. From an early age, Ken dreamed of living year-round at his grandfather’s camp on the St. Lawrence River, a dream he has proudly been living for the past 22 years alongside his wife, Tina, and their beagle, Daisy Mae.
Ken earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1992. He spent the majority of his professional career as an accountant and business consultant in the construction industry, ultimately retiring in 2025 as a partner at Range and Civil Construction. He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Veterans Range Solutions, an organization dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Defense.
Deeply connected to the land and waterways of the region, Ken enjoys boating, fishing, hunting, hiking IRLC trails, and tackling an ever-growing list of building and woodworking projects. His lifelong appreciation for the outdoors, paired with his financial and business expertise, makes him a valuable addition to the IRLC Board as the organization continues to protect and steward the places that mean so much to our community.
Common Loons are some of the most iconic Indian River Lakes residents. Unlike most bird species, loons have solid bones. This makes them less buoyant and more effective at maneuvering through water.
