Brooke Wills-Thomas
Chair
Brooke grew up outside of Burlington, VT, and attended the University of Vermont for her bachelors, SUNY Potsdam for her masters in teaching, and has her licensure in behavior analysis. Brooke and her husband, Rob Thomas, have lived in Theresa, NY, on the Indian River since 2019 and have fallen in love with this beautiful region. Brooke currently works as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Clinician with children diagnosed with autism, and works with others on their mental health and behavior change outside of her “day job."
Brooke has always loved being outside, with skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and running, which drew her interest to the Indian River Lakes Conservancy. She first became aware of IRLC on trail hikes in Redwood, NY, at Redwood Hill Preserve and Grand Lake Reserve.
In 2024, she started volunteering on the development committee bringing fresh new ideas and energy to the table. Brooke has also attended several stewardship days at Red Lake Preserve and Ferrone Woods Preserve. She encourages anyone who is on the fence about the organization to please come and enjoy the community and natural envoriment while making an impact on IRLC trails. Brooke cherishes the beauty of this area and is committed to supporting IRLC as Chair and by helping to build trails and inspiring the community to share her deep appreciation for this special place.
Common Loons are some of the most iconic Indian River Lakes residents. Unlike most bird species, loons have solid bones. This makes them less buoyant and more effective at maneuvering through water.
