Job Title: Executive Director

Location: Redwood NY (hybrid, in office daily is not needed)
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 annually with bonus potential
Employment Type: Full-time

About Us:

The Indian River Lakes Conservancy is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to the protection and stewardship of natural habitats. We conserve critical lands, support local ecosystems, and connect people to nature through education, outreach, and land protection initiatives.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Executive Director to lead our organization in its next phase of growth. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the conservancy, with a strong focus on fundraising and development, grant acquisition and management, and organizational financial oversight. This role requires a dynamic leader who is equally comfortable engaging donors, managing budgets, and championing our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Development:

Initiate, lead, and manage fundraising strategies and campaigns

Cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders

Identify and pursue opportunities for growth in individual, corporate, and foundation support

Grants Management:

Research, write, and manage grant applications and reporting

Track grant deadlines, deliverables, and outcomes

Operational Oversight:

Oversee the organization’s budgeting and financial management

Ensure compliance with nonprofit reporting requirements and internal controls

Work closely with the Board of Directors to align strategic priorities with operational execution

Oversee staff of 1-2 people

Qualifications:

Experience in nonprofit leadership, preferably within environmental or conservation sectors preferred, not required

Experience in fundraising and development

Demonstrated success in securing and managing grants

Understanding of budgeting and financial oversight

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Passion for nature, conservation, and community engagement
