Learning to Paint Nature

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little bit of nature indoors? Art can be a great way to bring the peace and serenity of the woods right into your living room. Join local artists Jan Byington and Cheryl Simeone to have fun and learn the painting basics of color mixing and brushwork to paint your own woodland landscape to take home. Using water mixable oils and canvas, participants will paint a scene from nature or draw inspiration from sketches provided.
A $20 fee per participant will cover all the materials needed for this workshop.
Bring along a bag lunch and stay for a picnic and discussion after class.
This program is suitable for families with children ages 13 and up.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited for this program.

About the Presenters
Cheryl Simeone is a New York state certified K-12 art teacher. She paints in an impressionistic style and enjoys work in plein air. Cheryl takes part in a variety of Plein Air contests and other art shows each year.
Jan Byington has been painting in the Thousand Islands since 1986, becoming a founding member of Plein Air Painters Thousand Islands Region in 2009. Jan will be part of the Memorial Day weekend open studio tour at her studio on Bartlett Point Road and participates in a variety of Plein Air contests and shows throughout the year.
